I've got an iPad 2 now. Seems good! Biggest problem was seeing how to attach the magic lid. Perhaps I had it upside down?
This one runs Verizon, not AT&T.

hey there, I was just thinking of you!!!! and this is because I am going to get myself an ipad for my surgical recovery. tomorrow is ipad day. I am really excited about the magic lid. WHich color did you get. and you shoudl down load the game, "Amateur surgeon" it is really fun!

I have bought three (count em) iPads. The most recent is white and runs on Verizon. The nearby Apple store didn't really have many in stock.
I chose the Verizon machine (which they had available) because my iPhone is on AT&T. I figure this gives me double to chance of connecting when we are out in the woods or desert or mountains, which is pretty often.
Good luck with you surgical recovery and your forthcoming iPad. I sure do like mine!
